On Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, low-lying tropical forests play a critical role in the livelihoods of the local community. However, illegal logging of high-quality hardwood in the island’s forests is causing the loss of hundreds of cubic metres of wood every week. In addition, a large portion of the island is critical land formerly used for dry rice field cultivation. If this situation remains unaddressed, a large part of Nusakambangan’s forests will be lost. Through images, video and graphics, the film shows the importance of saving forests in Nusakambangan.
