Sentarum-Sebuah Kearifan Lokal

This film documents the lives of communities in Danau Sentarum National Park, West Kalimantan, who have regained management control of their own natural resources using the skills of the local people. Forest land in the national park is rich in biodiversity and has huge potential to alleviate the grinding poverty that is the bane of the community. The local community exploits non-timber forest products such as honey, currently fulfilling 60% of West Kalimantan’s total honey demand. The film describes the efforts to develop local businesses and strengthen traditional institutions in order to restore their understanding and motivation to manage their own natural resources in a sustainable manner.
